Wedding Night Guests and the Garden

We have been very pleased to host a number of guests staying in the cottage for their wedding nights and a short minimoon before they jet off to somewhere warmer recently. We normally pop in a bottle of something special when guests let us know they have a special occasion. Jenny also makes a good birthday cake if you give her enough warning!

The flowers in the garden are out, and we appear to have a family of rabbits that can be seen nibbling at our lawn on most mornings. I've also seen a squirrel or two: I wonder if they are burying nuts for the winter. I'm also hoping that the fruit on our fig tree ripens soon. We normally have a glut and we are very happy if our guests take a few to enjoy - fresh figs are not that common in England.

August is Carnival time in Malmesbury, where there are shows, talks, sing-a-longs, open gardens, a street carnival and lots more. It's such a lovely area to visit with so many things to see and do! Do let us know if you want to visit the area now that the schools are going back, and the gardens, country houses are less busy.
