  • The interiors of The Coach House impressed us immediately - especially the way it maximises the use of light - a real wow factor! And the enclosed garden which was bathed in sun for most of our stay was a delight (and truly dog friendly!) This place is ideally situated for walks - long, or short, in stunning countryside - and for day trips. We especially loved Cirencester, Bath, Marlborough and Tetbury. In beautiful Malmesbury itself, we recommend the Smoking Dog for food as well as drink, Amanda's Bistro and the Old Bell. There are many dog-friendly eateries. A ighlight was a stunning choral evensong in the Abbey (4th Sundays of the month). Thank you for such an enjoyable stay.
  • Thank you Jenny and Owain for another lovely week in your cottage. Gollowing our third visit, we are getting to know the area quite well. Our week took us to Bath, Tetbury (love the place - wish we could afford to live there!), Cirencester and Nailsworth. Cottage was as good as it has been on our other two visits. Weather was also kind to us.

  • Thank you Owain and Jenny for another amazing holiday. We are heading up to Derbyshire for another week but it will have to be extra amazing to top our time here. Alfie the dog loves it so much too.
  • We had an enjoyable stay in your excellent cottage and appreciated the extras. We have been to the Cotswolds many times but never to Malmesbury which we thought was a delightful town - interesting and uniquely sited. The tickets to Westonbirt were a real bonus - we visited twice, once all day and another morning. Living on the north coast of Cornwall, we really appreciate all the trees!
  • Many thanks for providing a truly luxury cottage, well equipped for our short break. We were really comfortable and slept like logs every night after a refreshing shower! Both dogs had plenty of room and appreciated the garden. We will definitely come again soon.

  • We have had a wonderful few days staying in your beautiful Coach House. Thank you for all the added extras, bathrobes, toiletries, flowers, eggs, tea and cake, you totally deserve your 5 stars. We would recommend the Smoking Dog for food and the abbey at Lacock for a great historical day out! Will definitely come back if down this way again and recommend to friends and family. Thank you Jenny and Owain for a lovely warm welcome.
  • Thank you for a lovely weekend in The Coach House. It has been very relaxing which is just what we wanted. We've enjoyed the local walks and coming home to our warm and cosy cottage. Thank you for all the extra touches too - it makes a weekend away much more pleasurable when we don't have to think about packing salt, pepper, clingfilm, toiletries etc! And the cake was delicious!!

  • We'd like to thank you for such a wonderful stay here at The Coach House. It really felt like a home away from home and we are sad to be leaving - would definitely recommend a stroll around Westonbirt Arboretum - it's lovely, especially with dogs! Lots of lovely pubs in Malmesbury. Thank you for a lovely warm welcome - the little extras were just wonderful, 10 out of 10! Would recommend to anyone!

  • We have enjoyed our relaxing short stay in the beautiful Coach House. All the extra touches were lovely. Our grandchildren especially liked having a cup of tea and some of the delicious cake when they came to visit us. Thank you for the warm welcome and our wonderful stay.
  • Had a lovely Christmas in a lovely cottage. Beautifully equipped and cosy and fantastically presented. Delicious Christmas cake and thoughtful provision of diabetic goodies. Thank you so much for a lovely time - seeing old friends in Malmesbury was a joy!

  • A lovely cottage! Beautifully finished and furnished throughout! The cake, eggs and wine were a lovely welcome for us and the cake was one of the best we have tasted! Both us and our dog Poppy loved the local walks and the cottage is in a perfect location. We will definitely be recommending the Coach House to our family and friends.

  • We were delighted by The Coach House and had a delightful weekend. We were particularly impressed by the comprehensive stock of equipment in the kitchen and by the "finishing touches" to the cottage that give it character. Having stayed in many similar properties in the region this one stands out and we will look to return in the New Year. Good luck for the future and for the continued success of your venture.
  • We have had a super weekend break, so relaxing which is exactly what we needed. The Coach House has everything you could possibly need. Even if you were cooking every day it is fully equipped with all you need for a 3 course dinner. It's a special cottage of a very high standard and we will be making sure our friends get the opportunity to enjoy it and the location too. It was really lovely to have the special little touches - eggs, wine and cake - thank you very much. In short, a gem, we look forward to coming back and seeing another season.

  • What a delightful cottage and your attention to detail is perfect. You certainly deserve your five stars - well done! We have enjoyed our stay in The Coach House very much. We didn't venture much further than Malmesbury as we came to relax, and that is what we did! The Smoking Dog in the town gives a warm welcome to dogs and Amanda's Bistro even has a "doggie menu". Grace was very impressed. Jenny, your Gluten Free Victoria Sponge would win praise from Mary Berry. Perhaps we'll see you on Bake Off one day.
  • What a wonderful few days! Everything we and our dog Cooper required for a little R&R. Look forward to returning one day and exploring the beautiful area more. The Coach House is a total credit to you both - luxury and dogs allowed! The handmade cake was delicious and a thoughtful touch.
  • Fantastic weekend and the little extras were fantastic, especially the cake and eggs! You want for nothing and the location is ideal. I would recommend Europa and the cafe in the Abbey Gardens, both excellent. Would definitely stay again and it is well deserving of 5 stars.

  • A marvellous cottage with wonderful equipment and a lot of atmosphere! Everything is there! Many thanks for the hospitality and all the lovely things we found at our arrival. We have enjoyed the stay and will come back certainly!
  • Sadly had to leave on Sunday due to commitments at home. Such a shame as the cottage is lovely - very clean, luxurious, lovely garden and nice ambiance. We even had good weather! Who could ask for more? Oh actually there was more - a fantastic chocolate cake which was enjoyed by all! It has been a great weekend. Thank you.
  • Thank you so much for a fantastic holiday. The cottage is so beautiful. It's lovely to find somewhere so nice that is welcoming to dogs. We had everything we needed here and at times it seemed a shame to leave such a cosy place to venture out! The town is brilliant and we've really had a lovely relaxing break. The cake was yummy, as was the wine so thank you. We would absolutely return and would have no hesitation in recommending the accommodation to family and friends. Thank you so much once again.
  • Beautiful accommodation done to a high standard and a lovely garden to sit and enjoy the sunshine. Thank you for the cake, wine and eggs - it was a lovely touch. We enjoyed our stay here. Malmesbury was and we ventured a bit further out to Cirencester which was really good - some great shops and cafes. If we decide to come this way again we would have no hesitation in staying here and would definitely recommend it to others. Thanks again, a great weekend... now back to reality!
  • This has been the perfect cottage for us. Beautiful, friendly and loved the fantastic cake that was here on arrival. We both loved the local town, everyone has been so friendly and your information book was a great help for us to find places to eat and take the dog. Even on rainy days, we were happy just to relax here as it's so cosy! Will be recommending to everyone and thank you for a lovely holiday.
  • Our trip to Wiltshire was on the spur of the moment. A Google search helped us to find The Coach House - and what a find. A warm welcome and excellent accommodation has given us the chance to explore the area. We started with Malmesbury itself and Westonbirt but eventually made it as far as Stonehenge and Salisbury. The weather may not have been kind but it didn't prevent us from having a great time. Thanks for thinking of all the little details - wine, cake, doggie blankets... We hope to come again.
  • We booked a very last minute booking and we were NOT disappointed! The cottage is of very high standard, both in finishing and furnishings; it felt like home away from home. The welcome treats were a lovely surprise, especially the coffee and walnut cake (my favourite!) and again I was not disappointed! We would have no hesitation in recommending The Coach House to our family and friends. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
July 2015
  • Thank you for a wonderful weekend in the beautiful Coach House. It is beautifully decorated and perfect for a weekend away. We had a great weekend and would love to come back one day.
July 2014
  • Very good welcome from Jenny and Owain. Loved the cake and wine. Location of the cottage was excellent for walking into the centre (two good Italian restaurants found). Westonbirt passes were a plus and used twice. Could not have picked better weather for this week (very hot - sat out every night!) The cottage was everything we had hoped for - a credit to Jenny and Owain. Hope to return sometime in future.
June 2014
  • What a delightful little cottage. Thank you for thinking of everything to make our stay so relaxing and enjoyable. The carrot cake was delicious, the bed comfortable, the bath very relaxing. Thanks for taking our shopping order before we arrived and making sure we had milk and eggs. We enjoyed the garden too when we finally had a sunny day at the end. A lovely week at the start of our marriage.
  • A wonderful second visit to The Stables at The Rookery! Thank you again for your beautiful cottage in the countryside, it was just what we needed. The cake was delicious as always! I'm sure we'll be back again!
  • The welcome pack was lovely - English wine a delight. The facilities are excellent and we have really enjoyed our stay here. The visit to Westonbirt was great, surrounding villages and countryside well worth exploring.
  • We enjoyed a relaxing week in your cottage. Thank you for a delicious welcome pack. The tickets for Westonbirt Arboretum are an excellent idea, and have been used during the "variable weather" we had during our stay.
May 2014
  • Ditto previous comments plus excellent VEGAN banana cake! A lovely place to stay.
  • A joy to find this beautiful, well equipped and high spec cottage - we shall certainly be back. Thank you for all the welcoming touches - it really does set you apart from others in the same field. We particularly enjoyed watching the rounders whilst enjoying our wine! A fabulous weekend in a perfect setting. Many thanks Owain and Jenny.
  • A very convenient and comfortable base from which to explore the area and catch up with family. Thank you for the cake and refreshments - a most welcome "welcome". We have enjoyed our stay and will most certainly be recommending "The Stables".
April 2014
  • Immaculate and well equipped cottage just as shown on the website and worthy of the 5 star gold ratings. Warm welcome from Jenny on arrival, and enjoyed Westonbirt and nearby River Walk as well as the town, Abbey and Gardens. Great place for our Honeymoon!
  • Yet another lovely, relaxing stay at the Stables - we have lost track of how many weekends we have spent here but it is always just the tonic! Thanks especially for the delicious cake. The Easter service in Malmesbury Abbey was really great, followed by a fabulous lunch with the family at the Old Bell.
  • It's all been said before - first class accommodation. Your cottage has been a delight to stay in - home from home, cosy and welcoming. Thank you both for a wonderful week, and the special touches - cake, wonderful wine, eggs, even down to flowers in the window - all these extras make your guests feel special. You both have done an amazing job with the cottage and should be very proud of what you have achieved. Thank you again and we would love to come back.
March 2014
  • What a welcome! Classical music playing, lovely welcome pack of cake, wine and fresh eggs! The cottage is so comfortable. During our stay our beautiful granddaughter Arabella was born so we were very busy helping the family. The cottage was a haven at the end of each day... to recharge our batteries!!! We would love to return soon. Sincere thanks to Jenny and Owain.
  • Thank you for a perfect cottage for our babymoon! We have had a lovely stay, loved the luxury feel of the cottage, slept very well in the comfy bed. Thank you for the very thoughtful welcome pack, cake was delicious!
February 2014
  • Had a lovely relaxing stay. Cottage is great. Enjoyed supper at the Smoking Dog - just a shame it keeps raining! Thanks for everything.
  • A fantastic cottage. Have stayed in several cottages in the Cotswolds and this is one of the best. Very quickly felt "at home" and enjoyed our three nights away. Had a wonderful morning at Westonbirt Arboretum in the sunshine!
  • Thank you for our lovely stay here! We celebrated my birthday on the Friday, and it was made so special by being here in this beautiful cottage! The extra little touches made it even more perfect - the cake was delicious! We will certainly be back soon.
  • We have had a lovely holiday here. The cottage is excellent - warm, comfortable, very well-resourced. Thank you so much for the loan of the baby equipment - Maisie thought all the "new" toys were much more exciting than her own! We really look forward to our next visit... PS Delicious cake!
January 2014
  • Thank you for such a wonderful stay. The cottage couldn't have been better So kind of you to provide lots of baby toys and facilities for little Charlie - who had a great time. From our point of view, it is your attention to detail, care and thought which has gone into the cottage which makes it a real home from home. We'll be sure to be back!
  • Thank you for another wonderful weekend in your fantastic cottage - cannot believe it is a year ago since we were here on our honeymoon! We think Saturday was possibly our first wet day in Malmesbury but Sunday was lovely and bright and back to the Malmesbury we know and love! The Old Bell's Sunday lunch is as good as ever, and we also managed a delicious lunch at The Potting Shed.
  • We have had a very relaxing few days exploring Wiltshire. The Stables is perfect for two, cosy and comfortable. The cake was delicious - thank you.
  • Thank you for an amazing long weekend away from the city. As our first self-catering experience, The Stables has set the bar extremely high; the cottage is beautiful, cosy and has everything you could ask for. It was the perfect romantic setting for my proposal, and thank you for your help in making it so special. We wish you continued success and hope to see you again soon!
December 2013
  • Another lovely, relaxing stay in your fantastic cottage - just over two years since our first stay and as wonderful as ever! Luckily, the drizzly weather (pretty much our first ever in Malmesbury!) didn't matter at all as we have thoroughly enjoyed some much-needed R'n'R. Thanks as ever for the delicious cake and wine - much enjoyed!!  Wishing you a lovely Christmas and looking forward to seeing you in 2014!
  • Thank you for a lovely Christmas week in your beautiful cottage. The weather was awful but the cottage was so cosy and welcoming. Thanks for all the extras - cake, eggs and wine. We will return! So relaxing and romantic.
  • We have had a lovely week seeing in the New Year. Weather has been mixed but this cottage really is home from home. Everything we could have asked for - and more!  The best Christmas cake we have ever tasted.

November 2013
  • Delightful and generous.  Once again many thanks.
  • Thank you for letting me stay in your beautiful cottage! Everything was perfect, and the thought of getting back to a cosy living room, huge bath and comfortable bed kept me going through a tough week of tree-climbing (the lovely wine also considerably helped with the muscle pain!) Will be recommending you to absolutely everyone.
  • We've had an amazing weekend. Thank you!

October 2013
  • The Stables have been absolutely perfect. The facilities and amenities provided have been excellent. The location is beautiful and close enough to many key towns and villages that we wanted to visit. We have had a really lovely break and I would most certainly consider coming here again in the Spring!
  • Lovely accommodation - great holiday.
  • We have stayed in many "Premier Cottages"; this one is one of the very best. Excellent accommodation with wonderful treats. We have had a lovely week exploring the historic towns and villages and beautiful Westonbirt. Have bought many things to remind us of our stay. We loved every minute. Many thanks for everything.
  • Comfy bed and lovely featherdown quilt and bedding. Cottage beautifully furnished with quality throughout. Thanks for all the extras - flowers, cake, wine, milk and eggs etc which all added up to make a warm welcome and a lovely place to stay.
  • We have thoroughly enjoyed a splendid week. The cottage is absolutely outstanding and the provisions were incredibly generous and sincerely appreciated. Top notch!
September 2013
  • Lovely cottage in perfect location. Highlight of our holiday was a visit to the Abbey Gardens. Weather was brilliant. Thanks, for fresh eggs and gluten free cake. Wonderful comfortable bed and soft pillows. Perfect place to relax.
  • We are very happy to be among those fortunate to experience the magic of The Stables. Thank you Jenny and Owain for your foresight, hard work and great taste for "creating" this wonderful place. Thank you also for the "heart" and "soul" of the building in providing your thoughtful gifts - the beautiful cake - eggs and wine amongst others, and the great music. Our stay has been wonderful and will be remembered for all time.
  • This has been our first holiday in more than four years, and we've had a wonderful relaxing break. Having planned days out, we found ourselves wanting to stay in the cottage enjoying the lovely accommodation and restful environment. We are sad to be going home, but are very much looking forward to coming again before too long.
  • Our stay here at The Stables has proved that last-minute holidays are the best! We are both so pleased to have chosen this beautiful cottage (definitely deserving of its 5 star rating) in such an idyllic location. The Stables at The Rookery makes for a great relaxing, calm escape from the busy day-to-day life of London. Thank you so much for having us to stay - you have a wonderful place here, and we'd love to come back!
August 2013
  • We can only echo what other guests have said about The Stables. A delightfully transformed cottage which has been exceptionally well fitted out. It fully deserves its 5* status! I suspect Jenny's cakes are fast becoming a legend in these parts. We did a number of cycle rides from the cottage and it was encouraging to know that tea and cake could be depended upon at the end. The passes for Westonbirt were yet another thoughtful touch.
  • We had a wonderful anniversary weekend away here at The Stables. Coming into the cottage late on a Friday night we were greeted with lovely classical music on low and a scrumptious cake waiting to be devoured. The finishing touches such as the White Company soap and salts really made our stay feel like we were being spoilt. We had a romantic and relaxing weekend and thank you Jenny and Owain and making it such a perfect place to visit.
  • We had a lovely week at The Stables - the perfect place to get away and relax. So much thought has been put into the cottage and we appreciated all the touches that made it feel like home (albeit a smarter and cleaner version!) Thank you for the delicious cake, eggs and wine - we actually visited the vineyard and bought more to take home.
  • An absolutely immaculate cottage! We love all the small personal touches, the pint of milk, tea and coffee etc. The things that were available to us were fabulous. The welcome tray was lovely, the eggs being a great touch. The was exactly what we wanted for our honeymoon, to hide away somewhere quaint and country after all of the hubbub of planning a wedding. You were both lovely, thank you for being warm and welcoming. We look forward to seeing you again.
July 2013
  • Thank again for a lovely stay at your cottage. See you again next year!
  • Thanks for a beautiful stay at your great little cottage. We've had a fantastic time here! Also thanks for the personal touches - like the cake and the eggs!  We wish you all the best.
  • A gorgeous cottage, beautifully fitted and definitely 5*. Many thanks Jenny for the delicious chocolate cake and the wine which were very much appreciated.  The Abbey Gardens are fabulous - well worth visiting along with Westonbirt which is a lovely place to be when the weather is hot and the trees offer so much shade. Hope to be back.
  • Ditto all that's been said before. Looking forward to coming this way again.
  • The Stables is extremely comfortable accommodation - well thought-out, beautifully executed and maintained. The passes for Westonbirt were much appreciated, as were the many other thoughtful extras. Malmesbury has much to recommend it. In our short stay, we enjoyed the Old Bell Hotel and The Smoking Dog, and also had a lovely cuppa in the Abbey itself.
  • Your website was so good - it has been exactly as we hoped and more. We wanted a Premier Cottage and you delivered. All the little touches made it just that bit special. The cleanliness was exceptional. Wishing you all the very best for the future.
June 2013
  • We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Stables. The cottage is lovely and the extra touches upon arrival were really appreciated. The marmalade cake and bread were both delicious and well received. We used the Westonbirt passes twice - thank you!
  • I have had a wonderful and relaxing stay. Thank you. Jenny made me feel very welcome through her friendly, warm greeting - the Lemon Drizzle cake was absolutely gorgeous. The cottage is maintained at such a high standard with a homely feel. The location is fabulous for visiting place of interest - my trip to Bath was wonderful. I will definitely be staying here again and have let family and friends know how fantastic "The Stables" is - thank you very much Jenny and Owain!
  • This has been a lovely cottage to stay in - comfortable and clean with a very warm welcome from Jenny. The cake, eggs and wine were very much appreciated (and the fresh flowers). It is ideally located for visiting many attractions oth local and further afield. We have enjoyed Stonehenge and Bowood House among others. Malmesbury appears to be well served for eting places but we feel a special mention must be made of The Vine Tree. Thanks for an enjoyable stay.
May 2013
  • Jenny and Owain - firstly to say thank you for making us so welcome, with a very warm welcome from Owain on Friday and then meeting Jenny on Sunday on her return from Cornwall. You have made us feel very comfortable and relaxed. We have taken full advantage of visits to the Arboretum. Tetbury is a beautiful town as are so many other places in the area. Jenny the cake was lovely and has kept us going with our afternoon cup of tea all week, and thank you so much for the eggs and the wine. We have had a lovely week and I am sure we will be back.
  • Wonderful property - you've done everything perfectly. We've had such a relaxing time - thank you.
  • Without doubt the best-appointed holiday cottage we have stayed in. You have thought of every detail - excellent.
April 2013
  • As soon as we arrived at The Stables the welcome was exactly what we needed. The music was very calming and the cake was delicious. We came for a rest and that's what we had. Westonbirt was very refreshing, we did a lot of walking and blew those cobwebs away. Thank you for everything.
  • A very enjoyable stay at The Stables, comfortable and well appointed, with impressive attention to detail, for us "Home from Home"! In addition the welcoming VIP treatment was perfect - so reassuring. A lovely and interesting area, sadly our visit was over all too quickly. We would certainly stay here again if we return to the area. Jenny and Owain are to be congratulated on their "project" which is just right - we feel sure it will continue to be a great success.
March 2013
  • Our second very enjoyable stay at The Stables. The cake, the eggs, the wine, the cottage as a whole - all as lovely as last December. If you like animals visit Adam Henson's (Countryfile) Cotswold Farm Park just south of Stow on the Wold. If you like birds, then Peter Scott's place at Slimbridge is a good day out - open all year.  Thank you, Jenny and Owain, for Val's lovely birthday surprise, and for another lovely, comfortable stay. Best wishes for a successful 2013.
  • Our first visit to the Rookery and it won't be our last. Everything we expected and more. Our next stay will be longer. Best wishes for the season. Thank you for the welcome pack - so thoughtful.
  • We have enjoyed a really great stay. The cottage is perfect, and the welcome pack was a really nice touch. The cake was delicious! We appreciated the walking books and maps left out for us. They have been well used as we've explored the local countryside (beautiful). Afternoon tea at The Old Bell was a highlight.  Thanks for everything, all the best!
  • Just finished the last of the lovely cake baked for us by Jenny - one of the lovely touches of this excellent accommodation. We have had a fabulous stay - Jenny and Owain are great hosts.
February 2013
  • Thank you, Jenny and Owain for your welcome and unobtrusive care to make our visit here very special. We spent a bit of the time walking the Ridgeway and discovering our ancestors and their many graves! It's been a great week and the cake was without doubt among the best we've ever had.
  • We have really enjoyed our stay here. The pictures on the website do not do the cottage justice!  The cake, eggs and wine were an excellent personal touch.
  • Another fantastically relaxing weekend in your lovely cottage and some lovely weather. Particular thanks for the yummy cake - delicious! Look forward to seeing you again before long!
  • We have had a splendid five days at the cottage - it was lovely to return, and to see the area at a different time of year. There is still so much to see so we will definitely be returning to this perfect retreat. Thank you for the cake, wine and eggs - the cake was delicious.
January 2013
  • We have enjoyed a lovely week here at The Stables. Beautiful, snowy countryside outdoors, warm, cosy and comfortable indoors. What a gorgeous part of the world to explore and a great little cottage to come back to afterwards. Thank you Jenny and Owain!
  • Another fantastic visit to The Stables - made even better by getting to spend the whole week in this beautiful part of the world. As we hoped, we could not have been anywhere better for our "mini-moon" - we have had a great time relaxing and exploring the countryside in the sunshine! We particularly enjoyed our walk between Sherston and Luckington. The lovely honeymoon touches to the cottage were so appreciated, and an even better welcome than ever - thank you so much. We wish you all good things for 2013 and look forward to seeing you in Feb!
December 2012
  • Since arriving on Friday we have done nothing more than relax, exactly what we needed. The cottage is wonderful, comfortable and all needs are catered for. We have had a lovely few days getting to know the area and this happy town. Jenny and Owain, your attention to detail is perfect, and has only further enhanced our stay - thank you!
  • A delightful week spent at The Stables - a building of immense character which has been tastefully renovated and equipped to the highest standard. The "extras" were most thoughtfully put together and greatly appreciated. The opportunity to enjoy a visit to Westonbirt was a wonderful experience. Future visitors may wish to consider a trip to Avebury (27 miles) which is an intriguing complex of prehistoric stone circles. Thank you for everything.
  • Thank you, Jenny and Owain, for a very comfortable stay in your lovely cottage. Whilst not wishing to echo other people's comments, the chocolate cake was to die for. We've booked already for next March and, whilst not wishing to get Christmas over with, we can't wait to come back. The Christmas decorations were the icing on the cake. The Arboretum is well worth a visit - even in the rain.
  • Thank you for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. We felt very comfortable and cossetted. We enjoyed listening to music and TV wasn't switched on once! Will recommend to friends and family.
  • Thanks for a fantastic stay at The Stables! What a great little cottage. Lovely personal touches including a delicious cake, beautiful grounds and top-quality furnishings made this a great romantic getaway. As someone who works in historic building conservation, I also enjoyed the photo book about restoration of the old stables.  A great job - thanks again!
November 2012
  • Thank you so much for a very special stay. This is a beautiful little cottage and we've had a great time. Particularly grateful for your kind welcome and small touches - the baby gear was fantastic and took a lot of stress out of our first holiday together as as little family! Thank you.
  • Thank you for a lovely couple of days, loved the eggs and delicious cake. Jenny and Owain have done a great job with the Stables - everything you might need. Had some lovely meals in the Kings Arms.
  • We said we would return! This second holiday was just as good as the first!
  • We can only reiterate everything that has been said before - a beautifully converted cottage with every comfort and lots of little luxuries and attention to detail. Jenny and Owain are a lovely couple who helped with planning our visit to Stroud Farmers Market on Saturday and checked that we were okay when the floods hit and local roads were closed. Jenny kindly made us one of her award-winning Victoria Sponge cakes, which was absolutely delicious! Thank you both - we hope to return!
  • Thank you very much for a relaxing couple of days at The Stables. The accommodation has been wonderful and so handy for a short walk into town. Everything we've needed to cook etc is here and wifi has been very useful! The welcome tray was also a lovely touch - the vanilla cake especially was demolished rather quickly!! We'll definitely recommend The Stables to our friends and family. Thanks again!
October 2012
  • We have just had a wonderful long weekend here.  The Stables is an excellent holiday cottage, and we will certainly be recommending to our friends and family.  Thank you for the welcome basket.  That was a lovely touch - the cake was delicious!  Hope to see you again soon.
  • Fourth visit, everything still in tip top order.  Already looking forward to our next visit!
  • We have just had a wonderful long weekend here.  The Stables is an excellent holiday cottage, and we will certainly be recommending to our friends and family. Thank you for the welcome  basket.  That was a lovely touch - the cake was delicious! Hope to see you again soon.
  • A perfect long weekend made even nicer by the cake!! We really enjoyed our stay and everything about the cottage was just right. Malmesbury is a lovely town and we particularly enjoyed the Abbey House Gardens and of course Westonbirt. We will certainly recommend to our friends and we hope to come back again soon.
  • Excellent accommodation - a lovely welcoming tray and bottle of wine -  a calm, cosy base for exploring the beautiful villages surrounding Malmesbury. We shall return.
  • We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay, our first visit to Malmesbury. The cottage is fab and exceeded our expectations. We also appreciated the warm welcome and homemade lemon drizzle cake! The Westonbirt Arboretum was fantastic - especially at this time of year and we stopped off at Tetbury for a cream tea afterwards - also worth a visit! Enjoyed a good meal at the Smoking Dog, which also has a good atmosphere in the evening. Am sure we will be back at some point and will certainly recommend you to others. Thank you.
  • We have very much enjoyed our stay at The Stables at The Rookery. The cottage is perfect - attractive, cosy, warm, spotlessly clean with furnishings and equipment of a high standard. It was lovely to arrive to find the place warm, lights on, table set for our meal and music playing - so welcoming and homely. Thank you so much for the welcome tray - it was a lovely touch. The cake was delicious! We enjoyed exploring Malmesbury and visiting Tetbury and Laycock Abbey. This is an ideal base from which to explore the lovely countryside and interesting towns and villages of the area. The cottage is very special and we hope to return in the near future.
  • A return visit for us, and we were as impressed by the overall quality of the accommodation and delighted by the extra-special welcome touches (music, flowers, tray with fresh duck eggs, local wine and scrumptious coffee and walnut cake) as on the first occasion. As well as making our seasonal pilgrimage to Westonbirt, where the colours were even more glorious against a clear blue sky and bright sunshine, we went to Dyrham Park, where the guided walks around the path and garden and the van Hoogstraten paintings more than compensated for the rainy greyness of the day. We're looking forward to a third visit next year.
September 2012
  • We've had a most enjoyable week here at The Stables (a beautifully warm cottage), exploring the villages and small towns around.  The location of the cottage is superb.  Westonbirt, Lacock and Stourhead were all lovely day trips.  We really appreciated the "welcome basket" especially the marmalade cake - last slice coming home with us today!
  • Jenny and Owain - we have loved every moment of our stay at The Stables.  It has been the highlight of our time in the UK.  Every day we have been out and about exploring various little villages, walking over fields and through forests, up and down dale... and every evening it has been such a pleasure to "cosy up" here.  We've enjoyed having such a well equipped kitchen, perfect to prepare meals sourced locally - found more eggs en route from a roadside seller!  The bath is :)!! The bed also :) Malmesbury is the best little town - WISH we had longer!  Thank you for the yummy cake, eggs, wine and the table just ready for us.  Loved reading and seeing the pictures of how you did all this!  We are taking home some very magic moments of our time at The Stables.  You have created a very special place here.  :)
  • We have had a lovely few days at The Stables.  You have done a brilliant job with the renovations and your choice of quality fixtures and fittings - well done!  Thank you for everything, the cake was delicious and we've just managed to eat all of it before we leave.  We have spent our last day at Westonbirt Arboretum and really enjoyed our time there, thanks for the passes.  We wish you continuing success, you deserve it!
  • Thank you so much for such an amazing break.  Not only is The Stables full of character but your choice of fixtures and fittings help bring the space to life in a great way - love the pink accents in the bathroom.  Since our first booking enquiry you've made us feel very welcome and the tray of local produce and cake was hugely appreciated.  Your attention to detail is superb - you really have thought of everything and all to such a high standard too.  We thoroughly enjoyed reading the story of the renovation and feel very privileged to have stayed here.  We leave with a handful of your business cards ready to recommend you to friends and family and a head full of ideas of ways to improve our home on our return.  Thanks for the inspiration, personal touches and friendly communication - all have made this the perfect stay.  P.S. The Westonbirt Arboretum was well worth a visit - thanks for the loan of the passes
  • Excellent holiday cottage, just what we needed for a relaxing long weekend.  After a long journey the cake and welcome tray were very much appreciated.  Will certainly recommend to family and friends.  Thanks again.
  • We have had a wonderful stress free stay at The Stables.  The welcome tray with the eye-catching cake as we came through the door was absolutely lovely and tasted fantastic.  Your attention to detail and the standard of the renovations are of a very high standard and we would just like to say "thank you".  We hope to return again in the very near future.
August 2012
  • We have had a lovely few days at The Stables.  The personal touches, e.g. homemade cake, eggs, complimentary toiletries were very special.  The music on arrival was a lovely touch.  Everything has been so beautifully planned and we have enjoyed everything.  Absolutely love the White Company!!  Loved the "Story of the Renovation" book.  You have done so well, and in such a short time!  Loved it!
  • All has been said from previous folk who have stayed, I totally agree with all.  Being on my own when I looked at the lovely cake I knew it was cooked by someone who loved baking.  In my mind's eye I portioned it so I could indulge in a very large portion each night with the lovely bottle of wine.  I managed to eat four of the lovely fresh eggs.  So thank you for the love and care you gave me, a 78 year old, picking me up from Chippenham, and literally getting me to the wedding (my grandson and now lovely wife) on time.  You deserve all the praise!
  • Enjoyed our stay at your lovely cottage.  All the little extras made it a special place to stay.  Thanks for everything - hope to see you again.
  • It's been said many times before but this truly is a 5 star cottage.  The welcome pack was first class, the cake delicious.  Jenny and Owain were warm and welcoming.  Very, very happy to recommend The Stables to others.  We wish Jenny, Owain and family continuing sucess and all good wishes - 5 star wishes!
  • A lovely relaxed week away.  Communication was great with very clear directions.  Welcome was very thoughtful - cake was delicious.  Accommodation is first class and has been renovated with care.  We couldn't have asked for me, fluffy pillows, fluffy towels, fluffy dressing gowns and White Company toiletries!  The "Smoking Dog" in Malmesbury is superb!

July 2012

  • Thank you Jenny and Owain - we have really loved staying in The Stables again.  It really is the perfect haven.  We will be back!  All the thoughtful little touches are so nice Jenny - you have lovely taste and have thought of everything.
  • Thank you so much for being so welcoming and kind.  Staying at The Stables has made my week of work experience at the local vets so much more special, and given me a truly memorable time.  Loved looking through the photo book, the conversion of The Stables is really impressive.
  • A lovely relaxed and stress free stay at The Stables.  The eggs, wine and cake are a lovely touch and were much appreciated.
  • Many thanks Jenny and Owain for a very relaxed and stress free holiday right from the initial communication!  This has been our first holiday away together and your cottage has been very comfortable and cosy!  The cake was delicious, the bed was soooo comfy and the bath was perfect for two!  We will definitely recommend!
  • We have had a fantastic break in this beautiful, cosy cottage, the attention to detail is perfect and really makes the place feel like home.  We especially loved the cake and free range eggs, and the bed must get a mention - so comfortable! Special thanks for all the e-mails prior to and after our booking regarding our stay.  I'm sure we will be back one day.
  • Thank you Jenny and Owain for making us feel so welcome; a real home from home - and the cake, wine and eggs were an unexpected treat and very well received - indulgence for a weekend retreat.  The cottage is beautiful and the attention to detail flawless - a really lovely cottage.
June 2012
  • Another lovely weekend in our 'home from home' (and another yummy cake!)  We'll be dropping you an e-mail shortly to book a return visit... for our honeymoon!  Thanks as ever.
  • Jenny and Owain, we have enjoyed our time at The Stables.  The standard is very high and the attention to detail is what makes it special.  It has been a great base to explore this lovely area.  We will certainly recommend to friends and family.  Hope to be back ourselves too!
  • Thanks for a terrific short break.  You have done such a great job on The Stables.  We enjoyed the photo book.  It's really five star and your attention to detail and personal touches topped it off nicely.  We had a great stay.
  • Thank you for a lovely relaxing time at The Stables.  A superb conversion with excellent attention to detail.  The welcome - music delightful, cake delicious.  Great house for seeing Malmesbury and the South Cotswolds.  Dinner at Whatley Manor memorable!

May 2012

  • Jenny and Owain thank you for the lovely cottage - it has been more than perfect.  You have thought of everything and I can say the best hospitality yet.  All the best and great place - I'll be back for sure.
  • Thank you for a lovely home-from-home stay in The Stables.  Particularly loved the attention to detail - music playing when we arrived, fresh cake, wine, fresh coffee combined with a homely, beautifully finished "little house".  We were so comfortable, we didn't even want to go exploring, we were so cosy!  We did explore though and Malmesbury is lovely (as are the surrounding areas) but it was always nice to come "home" in the evening :)  Loved The White Company products, the bath is fabulous as are all the lush smelling freshly laundered towels and bathrobes.  Oh and the bed is wonderful!  Thank you Jenny, for everything.
  • What a relief to have found and booked The Stables at extremely short notice.  Jenny was so welcoming from the initial phone call, confirmation e-mails and helpful text messages (to encourage us on our very late drive from London).  We arrived past midnight and Owain was so kind in meeting and welcoming us to the cottage.  Yummy cake, a bottle of wine and breakfast tray waiting - the cottage itself was so lovely - this could be someone's home.  The decor and layout were very conducive to our relaxing long weekend.  Jenny gave some lovely advice on what to do in the area - we will be back so these will be enjoyed at a more leisurely pace.  We did go to Bath, so the location is good for the surrounding counties and their attractions.  We had a lovely time here.
April 2012
  • We booked The Stables at very short notice, luckily for us it was available!  Right from the enquiry, to the booking, to arriving here, Jenny was incredibly helpful - making everything straightforward.  I knew we were in for a relaxing break.  On arrival, Jenny welcomed us - showing us everything we needed and kindly offering to store our bicycles in the shed.  The fresh eggs, cake and wine have already gone - such a lovely touch.  We have already recommended The Stables to friends and family, and we will definitely be back.  Definitely deserved of its five stars!
  • What a find! We absolutely loved our stay here and have marvelled at your taste! The Stables has been fantastically renovated to such a high standard - we were fascinated by the photobook showing what an achievement the place is.  Thank you for such a warm and friendly welcome with yummy cake and welcome tray, and Jenny thank you so much for all your help over e-mail to suggest places to eat.  A very relaxing and happy anniversary weekend - made all the more relaxing by the amazing bed and gorgeous duvet and pillows, along with the roll top bath - heaven.  Thank you, thank you. thank you!
  • Relaxing, peaceful and thoroughly enjoyable stay at the Stables.  Your attention to detail and the homemade scones made our break feel very special and looked after.  And to have some sunshine and be able to enjoy the garden and the beautiful tulips coming into bloom was an unexpected bonus.  Thank you and hopefully see you again soon.

March 2012
  • Another perfect stay at The Stables - thank you!  We visited the Arboretum on this occasion, which was fantastic - cannot wait to go back there.  We used your boo to follow the "Malmesbury Circular" walk, which was lovely - highly recommended!  Look forward to seeing you again as soon as we can return!
  • Beautifully renovated and tastefully decorated.  A pleasure to go self catering and have every detail thought of, from bathing to cooking.
  • Thank you for a lovely stay - the cottage is beautiful and the little extra touches make for a very warm welcome - the delicious cake and wine went down very well!  And the loan of the baby equipment was much appreciated too.  We have enjoyed exploring the area, especially, our day out at Westonbirt Arboretum, which we would definitely recommend.  It's just a shame we don't have longer here!

  • Fantastic Valentine's Break / Babymoon.  Thank you so much for all the extras.  The decorations are beautiful and the cake was delicious.  We really enjoyed exploring the local area.
  • Many thanks for our stay.  It was absolutely lovely and in a fantastic location with Malmesbury also very charming.  We hope to see you again.
  • Back again for another lovely restful weekend!  Malmesbury is so lovely and the Stables are the icing on the cake (and Jenny's marmalade one was delicious).  We cannot praise it enough in terms of comfort and quality.  As Arnie says "We will be back".

  • This has been the perfect place to relax and unwind.  The standard of the cottage has been excellent - loved the White Co. accessories, and the high quality fittings.  It has been a great base for exploring the beautiful countryside.
  • Thanks for making our stay so comfortable.  Everything was top notch and we loved the underfloor heating - cosy toes in January - bliss!

So many little details - lights that switch on by touch, beautiful bathroom, underfloor heating... the list goes on!  We particularly enjoyed reading about the renovation - the pictures tell a great story!  We'll definitely be back!

December 2011

  • What a fabulous cottage and just perfect for the beginning to our honeymoon.  Finished to an excellent standard with well thought out extras (White Company goodies).  A very warm welcome with a lovely wedding cake made us feel extra special straight away.  The quality of accessories is very high (crockery, linen, cutlery, towels etc) making guests feel spoilt.  The information provided on the local area helped us plan some fun days out and make the most of the beautiful countryside.  All our thanks for a brilliant start to our married life.
  • This was our little honeymoon retreat after getting married on the 17th.  What a fabulous cottage!!  We got held up in traffic and didn't arrive until 9.30pm.  We were tired and fed up, but on seeing the cottage our spirits were lifted!  It had all been decorated with Christmas decorations, the glow from inside was heart warming and the heating was on!  The cake was fabulous, and many thanks for the Champagne!  All of these little touches are worth their weight in gold and tell us that the Stables will be a very busy holiday retreat for many years to come!  Many thanks Jenny and Owain for making our mini-honeymoon so extra special!
  • The whole experience was lovely, including the cake.  We love this area and the Stables has provided a home away from home.  We will definitely be back.
P.S.  Christmas touches were very much appreciated.
P.P.S. Sunday lunch at the Old Bell cannot be praised enough.
  • Many thanks for the friendly welcome!  The cake was such a hedonistic luxury.  Nice to come in to music and a set table also.  Lovely, cosy place.  Thanks again!

November 2011
  • Third visit, lemon cake next!! The Stables sets the standard in cosy cottages for two.
  • Beautiful cottage with every comfort.  We enjoyed all the extras on the welcome tray  - especially the cake.  Great Sunday roast at the Smoking Dog and enjoyed visit to Avebury Manor after watching the TV programme.
  • A lovely cosy cottage, well equipped with everything you could possibly need!  Thank you so much for the friendly welcome (and the delicious cake!) and the loan of baby gear and nursing chair.  The close proximity to the town is ideal and the river walk is very pretty and worth doing...  and the duvet is very snuggly!
  • Five things we especially liked about The Stables: the welcome (tray, music, room fragrance); the fossilised leaf patterns in the stone floor; the high quality of everything (White Company, John Lewis, solid wood, leather sofa, high-spec kitchen); TV & DVD that worked first time; the comfortable bed.  Thank you.

October 2011
  • We would like to echo the previous comments about the extra little gifts of welcome.  The cake was delicious, we took it over to Bristol so that we could enjoy our treat with our son, daughter-in-law and baby grand-daughter.  All in all the stay has been perfect for us to get to know this part of the country and I'm sure we'll be back again soon.  P.S. We highly recommend the "Smoking Dog" - food is excellent.
  • Thank you so much for such a lovely few days at The Stables.    We really enjoyed ourselves and it was great to come to such a peaceful place outside of London.  Needless to say, your cake was amazing and the rest of the welcome treat was so unexpected! (I knew nothing about the trip until we arrived!). We’ve got some fantastic photos of our time in the Cotswolds, next time we’re there we’d love to come and stay again.
